afternoon-at-the-lakeYesterday I had a totally Tahoe day… After my ride on the Flume Trail, I headed to the beach! And I even got in the lake, for the first time since 1990 when my family came here on vacation. It was cold, just like I remembered it.

I actually really wanted to nap on the beach, but I couldn’t. For one thing it was pretty hot, but the bigger factor was the pack of 7 year old girls playing nearby, one of whom had a dad who kept yelling at her that she was a total brat and a mean, unsupportive big sister (I witnessed evidence of neither but what do I know). The kids were all over the place with games and races and sand getting tossed right by my head. Then they decided to “play puppies” - for this reason, I did not relocate down the beach to a quieter spot. I had never heard of this game “puppies” and I was curious.

You get a bunch of beach chairs and your beach towels and you construct a “cage” and you get inside on your hands and knees. This is “playing puppies”. I am still unsure as to what part of this is fun, but then, I am not 7, and I have a real live pet at home I get to play with and bother.

Anyhow, after my very Tahoe day, I am wrecked! So tired! But it was worth it. Funny how, after living here for 10 months and being kind of down on the place, I am suddenly finding that there are actually fun things to do here. And at the same time, my local-friend count has octupled in the last 2 weeks. Instead of one friend, I now have eight! Craziness! So yeah, I kind of like it here.

Wow! I want to hear all about it. When you called yesterday we were going through a bad cell zone. I want details on the fun! I was hoping someday you’d see some of the wonders of the Tahoe area. I’ve always loved it and it’s one of my most fav places. I can’t wait to come visit. :)

WELL, i do have this “anonymous” friend who played puppies as a child but it was “all his sister’s idea”. perhaps he might have grown up thinking that playing puppies was really fun. hmm.
